Prelude

We are finally fishing, or rather, shooting and hauling the gear, because catches so far have been scarce, like last year.

The night has been a bit rough, with a fair amount of rolling and the noise of loose stuff in wardrobes, drawers, shelves... The weather did not get worse, but the search for a place where we could work today forced us to go South with the wind on our side. Very uncomfortable for everybody. You should have seen our faces early this morning. Everybody was battered.

Anyway, we have bagged three hauls already, the CTD is working well and everything has gone smoothly. The honor of the first haul has gone to Teo’s team and Fergus, our microbiologist guest (we will tell you some other day about him), has suddenly found himself working with macroorganisms. He says the experience has been good. We have caught mostly sandlance and capelin (rather small macroorganisms, as to minimize Fergus’ shock). It is very cloudy but visibility is very good.

Jose Luis's team are now full throttle, I'll get some photos of them in a bit.
